Doha an architectural dream

Qatar's fastest growing city, having over 80% of the nations population, Doha is in constant change.

Not only developing it's breathtaking skyline and their modern shopping malls; but maintaining its heritage and traditional souqs.

Be ready to see all the development while they get ready to be the host for the FIFA 2022 Wolrd Cup; not only amazing stadiums, and huge roads, but they are also adding a metro system. Which will all make it easier to move around and enjoy the games, while not having to worry about traffic and parking.

2022 is a bit far still, so let's talk about some of the infrastructures you can enjoy now and which we are loving so far.

Downtown Doha

The photos speak for themselves, building after building of impressive architecture, showcasing the view. Take your time to walk around, take pictures and enjoy a city in the making. Msheireb Downtown Doha is the planned city for Downtown Doha, construction phases started in 2010 and they aim to preserve the historical downtown area and revive the old commercial heart of the city through a new arquitectural language that is based on community living.

The Fanar Mosque

Or most common known as The Spiral Mosque, is the most prominent building part of the Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, located in downtown Doha near Souq Waqif and Corniche Street, is the tallest mosque in Qatar. Built following the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil of Samarra in Iraq. It is not a traditional Qatari mosque but it has become one of Doha's most famous landmarks. Visits can be arrange at the Qatar Islamic Cultural Center.

The Pearl

This beautiful board walk is the perfect scenario for a relaxing morning or evening. With tons of restaurants, coffee shops and high end stores, to enjoy while magic happens in front of your eyes. You can see all the construction process while they expand this area. A few of the spots we are loving in this area so far are Halo and SubZero (reviews will be uploaded soon).

Bridge

I have researched and researched if this bridge/art has a name but I haven't found it, so please if you know the name of it and the meaning let me know! For now I'm just in love with it!

Souq Waqif

Traditional commerce, architecture and culture in one place. Small shops where you can find everything, from jewelry, spices, perfume, clothing, and souvenirs to even animals. It has art galleries and is close to the Falcon Souqs. It's definitely an all in one.

The night life

The lights, this city definitely turns on at night!

I hope you enjoyed the photos share your favorite with us! Stay tuned for more about Qatar!

Until next time, Jailene
