East - West / West - East by Richard Serra: Zekreet, Qatar

An American artist involved in the Process of Art Movement left his mark in the Qatari dessert, Richard Serra's public art has been driven by the desire to take art off the pedestal an on to the streets. This time in the Brouq Nature Reserve in Qatar.

The sculpture of four steel plates, each one of them of over fourteen meters in height, perfectly aligned, expands for over a kilometer creating a breathtaking landmark.

To create the perfect alignment Serra had to study the topography of the land and enhance the desolated space in the heart of the dessert. Giving us a modern, yet timeless piece or art.
